Context

Glasses are expensive in Croatia, so not affordable to everyone. This means the poorest in society can't get suitable glasses, even with the help of health insurance. However, refractive errors not corrected by glasses can worsen over time and cause a range of other symptoms.

Supported project

In 2018, the L'OCCITANE Foundation and L'OCCITANE Croatia supported the Lions Club project to enable disadvantaged individuals in Croatia to obtain glasses with the right prescription for them. Eye tests were also provided so those with refractive errors can enjoy suitable glasses.

The objective of the project is to preserve the sight of 100 disadvantaged people by providing them with glasses adapted to improve their daily life and prevent their condition from worsening in the long term. Thanks to savings on transport, the project was able to reach 156 beneficiaries.
