Context

The Ladakh and Khumbu regions bordering the Himalayas are underserved and difficult to access. Mostly rural, these precarious regions have been little affected by modernity and do not allow easy access to medical care, which explains, among other things, the high prevalence of eye diseases.

Supported project

In 2019-2020, LOCCITANE Singapore and the Foundation supported the Sight to Sky association in their project to prevent avoidable blindness in underserved areas bordering the Himalayas. Mobile clinics were conducted in these areas to screen and provide vision and sunglasses to people with refractive errors. Cataract patients will be able to receive care.

At the same time, the Eye-trepreneurs programme were launched. This was a training programme for the population on eye health, screening and hygiene, organised by Sight to Sky.
