Context

The myopia rate among children and adolescents in China is extremely high. China's national government has taken intensified efforts to prevent and combat nearsightedness among children in recent years. Shanghai has been playing a lead role in this area. An innovative myopia control model by encouraging children to have more outdoor time was approved as an effective approach in the prevention of myopia among school children in Shanghai.

However, the rising in high myopia has not gained attention although it could cause severe visual impairment and blindness if no interventions. Therefore, this project will focus on high myopia among children by building a demonstrative and scalable services model including screening & referral, comprehensive eye examinations and children’s high myopia interventions.
