Context
Congenital cataract and retinopathy of prematurity (both treatable) are the leading causes of blindness in Latin America, accounting for approximately 40% of cases. Faced with this situation, the prevention of avoidable and curable blindness is one of the objectives of the global proposals of the WHO (World Health Organization) in the field of vision.
Supported Project
In 2023-2024, the Brazilian subsidiary of L'OCCITANE en Provence supports Caviver and its Blindness Prevention Program which is intended for the care and monitoring of children and adolescents, between 0 and 15 years of age, through the provision of social,clinical,surgical and rehabilitation care for cases of congenital cataract, congenital glaucoma and retinopathy of prematurity in the state of Ceara.
