This project is supported by the South Korean subsidiary of L'OCCITANE en Provence.

Context

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the risk of blindness in children is higher in developing countries with little access to health care. In Tanzania, about 1,500 children are born every year with congenital cataract and only 20 percent of children were operated upon.

Supported Project

In 2022-2023, L'OCCITANE South Korea has renewed its support to the Heart to Heart Foundation in order to develop eye health promotion in Tanzania.

This project is organized around eye health education, early detection and treatment of eye problem. Teachers will be trained in 79 schools to educate students on importance of eye health and to conduct preliminary eye screen to students. The suspected children with problem will be re-examined and treated by eye medical team at school and the hospital based further treatment (including surgeries) will be provided to the children in need through this project.

Providing eye health services to students in rural areas not only improve accessibility to better health care system but also students can access to education without inequality.
