Context

Despite the small size of its territory and its population density, Hong Kong has a very rich biodiversity. In the face of increasing urbanisation and the fragility of natural areas due to climate change, raising awareness of biodiversity conservation among local populations is becoming a major challenge. Promoting a reconnection to natural areas as well as sustainable consumption alternatives are essential to raise awareness among the inhabitants of one of the most urbanised and densely populated cities in the world.

Supported Project

In 2022-2023, L'OCCITANE Hong-Kong supports the project of the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, which aims to promote awareness of biodiversity, conservation and sustainable development in Hong Kong.

This project promotes biodiversity mainly through an educational dimension. The first part of this project consists of promoting biodiversity in the city, by maintaining and enriching the Hong Kong aromatic garden. The second part of the project consists of planting incense saplings in the playgrounds of several primary schools in order to promote biodiversity conservation among the younger generations. Finally, workshops about the rational use of aromatic plants will be delivered in companies to promote sustainable consumption alternatives.
